Navigation in the countryside using paths tracks and other linear features, basic map interpretation and compass work is included.
This course is suitable for those with no previous experience of using maps and compasses, or for those who want to gain more freedom in the outdoors away from preset GPS routes. The first day will be around Roseberry Topping (The Yorkshire Matterhorn).
There are plenty of accommodation providers in the area. The first day we'll meet at the Kings Head Inn right at the start of the first day's training and they offer rooms.
For details please see http://www.kingsheadinn.co.uk/
There are also hotels nearby in Great Ayton and Stokesley
This is also a good base for the first evening. We will start day 2 at Guisborough Forest which is just a few miles away but in the same area. Details for this will be given at the event. We will be out in the hills both days so you will need hill food/packed lunch for both days. Some hill fitness is required along with waterproofs! But the emphasis is on learning skills rather than an endurance test!
