Perquisites: To book on the Gold Conversion workshop you must have already completed the Tutor Award and have delivered at least 5 Bronze & 5 Silver Navigator courses.
The Gold Conversion workshop will run from 09.30 to 16.30. We will leave at 09.00 from the East Barnby Outdoor Education Centre and be at the meet point at the church at Westerdale GR 665059 by 09.30. We will return to the meet point no later than 16.00 to allow time to return to the Centre by 16.30. Those leaving from the Centre should coordinate to share transport to reduce emissions and cost. The course is run on a 1:4 ratio and is focussed on preparing individuals to become Course Directors of the NNAS Gold award.
The new Gold award is at pilot stage and will go live by 1 August 2019, so this Gold Conversion workshop will be in line with the renewed syllabus.
Participants should come prepared for a mountain day which, in November, can be chilly. Participants should be happy individually to walk in snow, though the course is not a Winter Mountaineering course.
All will require a packed lunch and hot drink with enough to last them during an active day of walking.
Those staying in the Centre’s accommodation on the Friday night will have a packed lunch provided for them. Please bring your own flask for hot drinks. These can be filled at the Centre.
Maps can be either OS or Harvey. These are: Harvey 1:40,000 North York Moors or OS North York National Park 1:50,000. A small number of copies of OS LR 1:50,000 will be available for those who require it.
Those who want to travel straight to the meet point should inform the office upon booking.
If you require accommodation, please see the "AGM accommodation" option after you have booked your workshop. This can be found here
The NNAS 2019 AGM will begin after the conclusion of the day’s workshops, approximately 5pm.
We invite all our Providers and their instructors to attend the day to gain CPD and to help guide the NNAS forward.
